Wharepuke Subtropical Garden
Wharepuke means ‘house on the hill’ in Te Reo Maori. The owner Robin Booth has a wealth of experience as a nurseryman and landscaper. He began developing the garden, which sits in a valley running down to the historic Stone Store in Kerikeri, in 1993.
Pukeiti
Pukeiti is located adjacent to the National Park - on the slopes of Taranaki. It features many kilometres of well-formed tracks for either a garden walk or a longer adventure into the rainforest. Wonder at the beauty of the world-class rhododendron collection, sense the history and learn the stories of the land.
Welton House
This extraordinary garden is a plant lover's paradise, featuring rare beauties and the clever use of the more commonplace. Unique topiary hedges, oversized wooden steps, platforms, and pergolas provide definition and inspiration.
The Urban Jungle
The Sky Tower peeking over the palms is the only hint of urban life in Mark van Kaathoven’s dense if diminutive rainforest in Freemans Bay, just 10 minutes’ walk from the central city. Skinks scurry up palm trunks and the chirrups of small green frogs harmonise with birdsong in a backyard that is teeming with life.
Longfield
Italy is the inspiration behind this grand formal garden, with its statues and fountains, and Corinthian columns reminiscent of Tivoli. Brick walls and hornbeam hedges create many garden rooms, featuring old fashioned roses, citrus, lavender and olives, alongside an English orangery.
Stablehouse Garden
This dramatic highly structural garden by designer Lyn Eglinton is resplendent in straight lines with ‘rooms’ in perfect sync providing balance, serenity and calm. Visiting in any season has it’s rewards.
Hollard Gardens
Hollard Gardens are informal and very intimate in nature. The property is a plant collector’s dream and displays a huge variety of plants both native and exotic. The gardens continue Bernie Hollard’s legacy of collection, plant innovation, sustainability and dissemination. Enjoy the maturity, richness and intimacy of the Old Garden, established in 1927. Then by contrast, appreciate the openness and diversity of the New Garden, established in 1981. On your way through the garden, you will appreciate the stories of the garden, the people and the history of the farming district.
Walter Peak High Country Farm Gardens
These beautiful gardens were started in the 1870s when two of the region’s oldest introduced trees were planted – the Sycamore and Oak, which are now protected. A native Kauri tree was also planted there in the 1960s and, in the decades since, the gardens have gradually evolved and been enhanced.
Longbush Cottage
Longbush Cottage is A modern cottage garden located in beautiful central-Wairarapa, New Zealand. A sanctuary of serenity and a haven for all plant enthusiasts. Open by appointment, and hosting events throughout the year.
The Sculpture Park at Waitakaruru Arboretum
This former greywacke quarry has been transformed into an arboretum over the past 32 years. It provides the foundation for a unique art-in-nature concept throughout its 17.5 hectares where imaginations are inspired, creative exploration encouraged and mental and physical health nurtured.
Ora Garden of Wellbeing
The remarkable gold medal winning New Zealand entry to the world famous Chelsea Flower Show in May 2004 has been rebuilt and replanted at the Taupo Museum on a central site close to the main Taupo shops. Known as the '100% Pure New Zealand Ora - Garden of Wellbeing' it is the result of the combined creative energy of six talented New Zealanders who were delighted when a permanent home in a secure courtyard was offered.
Pegasus Bay Winery
An eclectic garden with a backdrop of an architecturally designed working winey, Tasting Room and Mini-Deli. Featuring sweeping lawns, lakes, Japanese bridges, coloured gardens, bush walk, Rhododendron Dell and Sculptures.
Ngata
