Pegasus Bay Winery

Overview/introduction

This magnificent country garden is nestled in the Waipara Valley wine region, 45 minutes north of Christchurch.  Set against a backdrop of an architecturally designed, working winery, tasting room and Deli. Expansive lawns sweep down to lakes and red Japanese bridges. Take time to wander, feed the eels or just sit and relax.

Standing at the top of the amphitheatre, the view of the Golden Pines, Pencil Pines and distant hills is magnificent.  In Spring flowering Cherry trees, Magnolias, Rhododendrons, Camellias and Daffodils abound. Wisteria cascades over pergolas.  Summer is a riot of colour in the long border, filled with roses, multi-coloured dahlias and perennials, framed by Buxus hedges and topiaries.  Hydrangeas and hostas are favourites.  Autumn is a tapestry of gold, orange and red on the many deciduous trees.  Winter highlights the different foliage especially in the native, oriental and conifer gardens and the dark green topiaries contrast well with the curving silver hedges.
