Ngahuha

★★★★

Spanning 15 acres and carefully cultivated over the past 35 years, Ngahuha Gardens offers a tranquil retreat from the hustle and bustle of daily life. Owners Peter and Gerry Milsom have transformed the space into a 'manicured wilderness,' where their passion for rare and uncommon plants is reflected in every corner of the garden.

Ngahuha features impressive collections of temperate and subtropical plants, enhanced by serene water features, artful stonewalling, and winding walkways. The fertile volcanic soil and subtropical climate of the far north have fostered the remarkable growth of many species, creating picturesque vistas throughout the garden.

The garden is a delight in every season. In autumn, the air is filled with the sweet scent of Osmanthus fragrans aurantiacus, reminiscent of ripe apricots, while large plantings of Liriodendrons, Tupelo, Liquidambar, and Japanese Maples provide a stunning autumnal display. Winter brings a spectacular show of magnolia blossoms, and in spring, the garden bursts with floral beauty. Summer’s highlight is the vast and breathtaking lotus pond, a true centerpiece of the garden.

Ngahuha Gardens is a haven for plant enthusiasts and nature lovers alike, offering interest in all seasons. Visitors can enjoy the peaceful atmosphere, explore the meandering paths, and admire the rare botanicals collected over the years, making this garden a truly special escape.
