Woodend Gardens (Private)
Woodend Gardens are situated just five minutes north of Blenheim. A formal gateway and extensive curved driveway lined with blue agapanthus sets a stunning scene for the established gardens.
The 2.5ha formal garden features many different zones with all unique elements and hidden sanctuaries - a selected wedding area, woodland gardens, pond and water features, a large covered pergola with seating, and a number of seating areas along the garden walkways.
Many large specimen trees are established on the property including liquidambar, dogwood, flowering cherry, magnolia and gleditsia. 40metre high gum trees (eucalyptus) planted more than a century ago stand proud in the south west corner, with a fairy garden hiding at the end of the path.
The formal wedding avenue is a large lawn area with mature cherry blossom trees forming an aisle leading to the fountain focal point. This spacious area is bordered with roses, buxus, camellias and liquidambar trees.
Spring is a spectacular season in the garden with wisteria, numerous bulbs and camellias in flower followed by iris, azalea, rhododendron, peony, hosta and clematis.
As summer approaches the rose beds bloom along with the hydrangeas and heuchera.
Autumn is a marvellous sight with the beautiful colours or yellow, red and gold as the trees and vineyard change heading into winter.
Spring through to autumn, Woodend Gardens are a superb private garden for hosting garden tours, weddings and special occasions and offer superb scenery and special areas for photographs.
